Absent due to Major Changes

You may have noticed my absence on this blog as of late. Not only are my fiance and I very busy with our wedding preparations, I am also working on some BIG changes for this blog and in for my business overall. Some of the changes need a fair bit more research before I can announce them, but the changes for the blog should be ready sometime this weekend!! I am super excited to share it all with you and I hope you check in to see what's going on.

Catch Up

As you might be able to tell, I have been playing catch up so far this year. I will likely be doing so for a couple more months as I have a large backlog of photos to finish editing and uploading.
I finished 71% of my 100 Possibilities project and am working on finishing blogging the completed photos and also getting the remaining 29% photographed and edited and hope to finish the project shortly.
The backlog of photos include photos from the Cottage trip and assignment, Quebec City, Florida (and Disney), Thanksgiving, Christmas, DST Christmas Party, Family Picnic, Dave’s Firefighter portraits, Toronto trips, Upper Canada Village Alight at Night trip, Chris’ tattoo photos, remaining portraits from various Algonquin College assignments, updated editing of 2008 England trip, and several walks around parks and greenbelts within Ottawa. I think that is everything though I could be wrong – the list is so long that I might have missed a few things, I am sure I will find them as I complete the list.
As you can see, there is lots to edit and lots to upload and blog --- so I should probably get back to that.

Stephanie Beach Photography Version 2.1

This past Monday was supposed to be Motivation Monday, but as you can plainly see, I forgot to post something for it. Instead I spent the day revamping the blog and giving it a whole new look. My apologies for those of you who were looking forward to a post. But look at how pretty the new template is!

Last week I opened up this blog and realized I just didn't like the old template anymore - it really bothered me. It was a basic Blogger template and I found it to be both boring and way too colourful. I feel that a photography blog should be rather neutral in colour so that the photos (and how they are viewed by you) are not influenced by the surrounding colours of the blog. I hope that this new template enables freedom from influencing colours. I found the new template at ourblogtemplates.com which offers a ton of really great templates. You merely download the one you like and install it. After a tiny bit of coding to personalize it, you are good to go.

This new template also gave me the motivation to finally make myself a personalized header. The header used here is part of a photograph taken at the Montreal Botanical Gardens (and Insectarium). I cropped it, desaturated it almost completely (there is still some colour in there) and then obviously had to resize it appropriately. I am really happy with how it came out.

Featured Photograph

I have added a new feature to the sidebar of this blog (right) - Featured Photograph. I plan on changing this photo every week or so to a different image of mine - possibly new, possibly old, possibly somewhere in between. I hope you enjoy it.
