This guy was also at the Clearwater Aquarium. This was one of the several sea turtles rescued by the staff that could not be rehabilitated for one reason or another.
Taken at the Clearwater Aquarium, this guy was getting really anxious for his performance in the dolphin show.

Manatees are so odd looking. When they are sitting in the water, one could easily mistake them for rocks, as I initially did. But then you look at them and realize they are so kind and peaceful looking.
One of the beautiful elephants that live at the Toronto Zoo. I think they are one of my favourite animals - especially at the zoo.
Chris, though quite sick, managed to get into costume and participate for a little while. During the few minutes in which she had her mask on, we were able to get a photo of her and Binx-Binx that she didn't dislike. The Agricultural Museum has a photography contest for members ever year and this year was no exception. When Dave and I got our annual memberships back in March, I read about the contest and waited patiently for the entry time to arrive. And it has - October 31st is the deadline for entry into this year's contest.I began looking into my photos taken at the museum earlier this year and found that the vast majority of them, including the ones I liked the most, were taken before the June 15 start date.
I rushed to the museum and tried to take a bunch more to add to the one set that fell within the correct date range. They weren't as good as the ones I had taken before, but they did fall into the correct range and were acceptable enough to be entered into the competition. To be honest, I don't know which of the three images I submitted is my favourite as my favourite from the museum was taken back in April.
None of the images have much Photoshop work, in fact the only thing that was done to them in Photoshop was some contrast adjustments and file size and type changes. The rules stipulated that you could only adjust contrast, brightness, and sharpness of the photos, anything else done to the images would eliminate them from the competition.
Deviantart (DA) is a wonderful place full of absolutely amazing artists. I have been on the site for over two years now and pretty much since the beginning, have been watching one artist in particular, Hellfirediva. Her work is primarily animal and nature based, though she has several photos that do not fall in these categories. She has the most breathtaking images, like Bolero which I think is my favourite of her pieces (I apologize for not putting images here. I did not ask for permission and as she states on her DA page, she does not want anything reproduced without her written permission and I believe in adhering to these requests). Her actual name is Kristina Kotarski and she lives in Ohio, though is originally from Germany. I enjoy every aspect of her art from the image itself to the titles she gives them - the titles for my works are bland and uninspiring, while hers are poetic and match the image perfectly, which is something I really want to work on. I think the reason I find her work so motivational is because mine is along the same lines - or rather, the images I want to capture (those that are in my head) are the basic versions of her images. She has honed her skills and found her niche and has therefore found a very strong, and well deserved, following on DA.
The enclosure for the lemurs was packed and actually had lights to tell you when you could enter due to the popularity of the exhibit. I am sure the lights were for the lemurs comfort and you were able to get quite close to them - especially this cuddling pair on their pedestal.
It wasn't hard to see these guys. Not only was there a giant crowd in front of the barriers, but there were also tons of small children screaming "Monkey Baby" or "Baby Monkey" to their parents. It was cute, yet annoying all at the same time. Luckily I was able to steady myself long enough to get a decent shot without the use of my tripod as that would have been near impossible with the size of the crowds at the Biodome during our visit.
There are numerous birds at the Montreal Biodome but this little guy caught my eye as he gracefully scratched an itch.
I have learned throughout my many trips to the zoo that otters are very hard to photograph. I was however pretty lucky while at the Montreal Biodome.
Meerkats are such photographic creatures - constantly posing. He enjoyed the show we put on for him while we attempted to get Dave's iron ring out from behind the posts.© Blogger templates Romantico by Ourblogtemplates.com 2008
