Read more...I Heart Faces is "a photography site focused on the art of capturing faces and their various emotions. Each week, people from across the world have the opportunity to enter their favourite face photos into a themed photo challenge." The top ten get displayed on their homepage. I heard about it through the blogging grapevine and thought I would take a look. Turns out I have some decent 'face photos' (portraits) and have decided to take a shot and enter one this week. I have chosen an older photo of Olivia (Dave's youngest cousin). I don't expect to win as there are some really good shots already submitted and over 700 total entered so far - but it is something to do to try and get my name (and work) out there.
The second assignment was due this evening for my Photoshop course at Algonquin College. I was so happy with my image, my restoration work and my colourizing but not so pleased with my grades. I got an A- in restoration and only a B+ in my colourizing.
The original image I used, my Aunt Carol on a pinto pony, can be seen above and the restoration work I did prior to colourizing can be seen below.
And the final image is below. I think it is worth more than an A- and B+ but apparently the instructor did not.
Once again I must console myself with the fact that no one in the course really did any better and most of them got lower marks. But I strive for perfection, especially when it comes to my photography.
There are only three more classes left once tonight is complete and then I get two months off from night courses which will be a really nice treat. I am still looking forward to taking something more photography based again though in the fall.
This was taken during Easter Weekend and as such the Agricultural Museum had just starting showing their baby animals (lambs, chicks and piglets). This little girl was a little alarmed by the lamb constant bleating - it really wanted its mother.
Baby Olivia being held by her proud and adoring Uncle John. Though she doesn't look impressed in this photograph, I assure you she was giggling and laughing two seconds later when John kissed and tickled her with his mustache.
A photograph I took while at Long Point, Lake Erie this summer. It actually reminds me of the pictures that come in frames when they are first purchased.
Last summer Dave and I went to the Peterborough zoo. We attempted to watch and take pictures of the otters but the small (and irritating) children kept getting in the way. Turned out that one of the best photographs to come out of the trial was one involving one of the small children.
I ended up at a childrens' playground on one of my many bike rides and got a great collections of photographs. I am not sure if I like the colour or black and white version better - so let me know what you think.
